Weekend matches...

11.28.2009

Today and tomorrow, there will be some good good matches in the EPL + La Liga. Chelsea v. Arsenal, Tottenham v. AVilla, and the big one, Barcelona v. Real Madrid.

Chelsea's pretty strong and deep despite some key injuries, but almost everyone's fit - not that they need it since they can probably throw out 2 good starting XI teams, and playing well in Ancelotti's system. Plus, Didier Drogba is in the fit form of his life. Arsenal..well, injuries continue on. van Persie just died for the next 5 months, so their strikers are...Vela and Eduardo? Gibbs, Diaby, Clichy, and Bendtner are all out. // As expected, Chelsea wins, by a score of 3-0. There was a controversial goal in the game when Arsenal was down 2-0, thinking they scored only to get it waived off for feet being too high / "kicking it out of Cech's hand". Regardless, Arsenal couldn't keep up with Chelsea anyway, as they got stuck at the midfield and turned it right to Chelsea for their counter.

Tottenham's been on a tear this year, coming off a 9-1 win against Wigan, and I fully expect them to be in the top 4. AVilla will be Villa, scoring shouldn't be a problem.
Something in me wants this to be a high scoring match, something like 3-3 lol. This should be a fun, with the amount of long balls they should be playing, bombing down the wings for crosses. // Match ended 1-1. Couldn't watch it 'cause I was at work though =(

And finally, the big one. El Clasico, Barcelona FC v. Real Madrid. Why did Madrid spend 200 million this past summer on Kaka, Ronaldo and others? It's mostly because of their inability to keep up with Barcelona's home grown players, which is quite a feat if you think about what they've done to force their opponent to go out and spend that much $$ in this economy. Nontheless, El Clasico is El Clasico afterall, and this is a match I wouldn't wanna miss. Lionel Messi (who I hope is fit for this), Thierry Henry (lol France handball, that's another story itself), Xavi, Ibrahimovich, Kaka and Ronnie? On the same pitch? I'm down, as should you.
Fully looking forward to watching this match soontime. // Match ended 1-0, Barcelona with Ibrahimovich scoring the winner 5 minutes after he subbed on for Henry. Great match as expected. Barcelona now has won the past 3 El Classicos.

Oh, and they're finally done the qualifiers for Champions League. Liverpool and Mourinho's Inter didn't make it. Others march on.
Liverpool...well, I'll write about them another time.
